Are you talking about something like a "Graphing Calculator"? If so,
I'd recommend considering the TI-83 Silver Edition. I use it mostly
because I like having a big screen so I can see what I've done before
(thus I can't say whether the features your looking for or even its
"namesake" -- that is, graphing -- features are any good), but it's
handy for a lot of things and is programmable (I haven't bothered with
that personally).
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that it runs something
similar to the OS in the old TI-99/4A home computer only much faster
(and obviously) smaller. It has Basic.
