Mean it might be, but lean it's not. Firefox on GNU/Linux is 10 MB. 
Hardly the "browser on a floppy" the Mozilla people wanted. Konqueror is 
half the size.

Because it gobs too many resources (memory and hard disk footprint) and 
it's spreading its quirks rather than its standards.

It's still not standards compliant, and prompts developers to target 
Gecko's quirks, instead of coding standard code that should work in 
every browser under the earth.

(Gmail, I'm looking at you... and I'm looking also at a myriad other 
websites)

Let's hope Chrome improve the state of things. It's Google backed and 
its rendering engine is WebKit, so let's hope standards compliance gets 
better.
