If they want Mac News then can't they subscribe to a list for Mac news
or find some other source of Mac security info?  (Does Tim also run
such a list?)

Second, there are always lots of security advisories around.  e.g.
http://secunia.com/advisories/ shows as statistics for today (so far):
21 new security advisories, 44 new vulnerabilities discovered and 54
updated advisories.
