[CS-FSLUG] Really Odd Computer Behaviour

Is the copy of Windows 2000 OEM? An OEM copy of Windows, particularly
XP will simply reboot the computer instead of starting up if the
hardware is significantly different from the time it was installed/
activated to the present. A change in motherboard would be exactly
the kind of change required to cause this behaviour.

Windows XP on the other hand will start the installation process, but
ask you to insert a floppy disk with SATA controller drivers during
the installation process, another common problem with XP is that
preparing SATA drives for use isn't as easy as with IDE drives, it
requires some extra work in the computer management application
initializing the disk and setting up the partitions in there.
