Perhaps this is referring to data stored at molecular level?  I think this 
was actually done in a lab a few years ago.

Nano-storage (IBM's millipede project) can store a trillion bits per square 
inch and uses plastic, so  doesn't meet "organic" criteria.  Imagine 25 
DVD's on a postage stamp!
