Ed,

This is what I get when I typ dmesg: hdd: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4521B, ATAPI
CD/DVD-ROM drive

This is after a fresh re-install. I am now running Ubuntu, not Kubuntu. The
reason for the switch is that I noticed some irregularities showing up...
i.e. computer crashing at odd times. It had done this before when I had XP
on the same hard drive, so I'm replacing my 40g hd with a 160g hd. I'm still
reinstalling all the software that I had before - this time I'm using
automatix - so I'm not at the point yet where I can test the cd-writing
again.

One problem that I have noticed so far - and it's kinda big - is that I can
see the Kubuntu hard drive, but I cannot mount it or access it. This is a
problem, because it has all my music... :-( I have another way of getting at
my music; but, if possible, I'd like to be able to just copy it right to my
new hd. Any tips? This is the error that I get when I try to access the hard
drive: error: device /dev/hda1 is not removable
error: could not execute pmount

Thanks,
Chad
