I looked at that, but had no idea what to make of it. Permissions seemed 
so unlikely given how the Ubuntu/Kubuntu installer is scripted to 
prevent that. My thought at that time was the part you cite was a 
symptom, not a real issue. Since there were other things for which I 
did have some ideas, I focused on those first. As it is, things are 
working for now.
