I'm sure you know this already Tim, but there are wifi repeaters.
D-Link sells a few, and since I resolved a few of my recent issues
with my router I'm ok with them (I think I'll try netgear next though,
Linksys routers look absolutely hideous :-P).

For some reason I heard that cantennas were banned by law in some
places, but if you want to extend your wifi range at a minimum cost
you should check those out.
