And now I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment. screen and gpm
can provide you with those features in a vty, too. Granted, it's less
flexible to use screen than a window manager, especiallly when you don't
have overlapping windows. But the functionality is there. :) Some CLI apps
even use gpm to allow you to use the mouse as part of the program - for
example, links.

I think the best thing to say is that sometimes CLI apps are better and
sometimes GUI apps are better. It doesn't just depend on the task, it also
depends on how you want to go about doing it. Personally I like using
both.
