This is a common geek concern. I've heard of some who write documents in
DVORAK, but program in QWERTY. I learned vi after learning DVORAK so I
can't speak to that much, but you could just re-map your vi shortcuts to
the pattern instead.

As an aside :q is easier than ever to type in DVORAK because the : and
the q are right beside each other (z and x in QWERTY). :-) The i and d
are also readily accessible (g and h in QWERTY) and heavily used.
