The myth of intentional inefficiency ranks up there with the Craig 
Shergold story for being itself silly. What it really boils down to is 
whether you like your choice, and the reasons aren't all that important. 
God set us free by making our minds capable of things our conscious 
portions can't imagine. Then we try it and discover how rich is His gift.
