If you go to the application website (cineterra.org), they seem to suggest 
that you can support small projects with just a 500MHz box and 256MB RAM. 
HDD depends on what you're doing.  Of course, the *recommended* hardware 
depends on what you're doing.  Considering that the heavier-duty video takes 
12GB/hour (or something like that), you might want the renderfarm. :-)
