The author is myopic. Goggle is a challenger but so is Yahoo,
Mozilla, Linux in all of its forms, OpenOffice, on and on.
The worst enemy Microsoft has is itself.
They can only lie about the quality of their code so many
times and people start disbelieving them.
The Windows code bloat and resultant hardware demands are
starting to prevent some people from using the product,
especially what we are hearing about Vista.
Add to that the chronic and pervasive security problems
across the entire M$ product line and serious users are
looking for alternatives.
And finally, one looks at the cost to operate over time
and M$ becomes the more costly choice -- now that Apple
will be available for PC's and Linux has multiple Apple/
M$ windows-like alternatives.
Most users simply no longer "need" Microsoft!
