Well I'll be darned. just 2 seconds after I sent the last message, I went back 
into my /home and found a dirrectory named .config, I seen something in there 
related to the kmenu so I renamed it and sure enough the menu automagically 
re-generated into the default

Thanks Gabe, you gave me the inclination to look again after looking for 
hours.
