Well, I think it really depends on how the system was compromised.  If
it's just a simple case of the authorised user giving out his password,
then a password change might be all that you'd need to effect.  Of
course, I'm assuming that the intruder is an ordinary user.  It all
boils down to one's judgement of the situation, discovering the facts
surrounding the case and deciding on how much reliance U want to place
on your knowledge of these facts.
