I've been running FC 4 for about 2 weeks now and I really like it, except for
1 thing, sometimes it would get real slow for some reason or even lock up for
a few minutes and I couldn't figure out why. Well I think I found out why
now! It's because it doesn't seem that my Swap space is being used.
KinfoCenter reports that 98% of my total memory is bing used and I have
3.83MB Free and it reports that the SWAP is not available and it appears as
if it's not bing used.
I've spent sooooooooooo much time customizing my desktop, from fetching
pictures for my address book, getting everyone on my contact lists birthdays
and anniversaries and a whole lot more.
Anyway it seems I may have to do a fresh installation because when I installed
this time, I didn't bother with the swap because I'm used to the installation
taking care of it, but that may not be the case.
So here is what I need to know.
1. is it possible to format the SWAP space and make FC use it without doing a
fresh install?
2. If it's not possible, can I get a list of stuff I can back up to save my
settings so I don't have to do all this customizing all over again?
My /home is on a seperate partition, but last I tried to format / and
keep /home intact it didn't work out too well and I found out some settings
are on / that I thought would have been in /home.
Any suggestions would be so appreciated!
Thanks so much
