Check out Stiquito.  They can be controlled using a simple LPT1 port.  I 
bought (and have somewhere, never used) the whole kit including the LPT1 
controller for something like $50

powered with nitinol / flexinol, a "memory" wire that expands/contracts 
as current heats it.
