"Is IBM close to avenging OS/2's death?
It's been almost 15 years since Microsoft jilted IBM's OS/2 at the altar,
kicking Big Blue while it was already down (financially). Since then, IBM has
downplayed any insinuation that it's seeking revenge. But insiders know
better. If nothing else, the company's embrace of Linux, jettisoning of its
PC business, and lukewarm backing of Itanium and 64-bit windows have put IBM
in a better position than it has ever been for a major offensive against
Redmond. Not convinced? What about IBM's recent backing of an EU crackdown on
Microsoft. Want more? Then consider Chiphopper."
