[CS-FSLUG] VMWare

Sorry I did not respond before this; I have been out. My experience has been
with the Microsoft Virtual PC, not VMware, but the concepts are the same.

There are two main ways to look at VMware. You can use a virtual disk, or you
can use an actual partition. I will talk about the virtual disk approach, as
that is usually the most useful.

If you have created a virtual disk, then when you start up VMware you simply
think of it as it's own computer. How do you install Win98? You install the
Boot floppy (or a bootable win98 CD) and turn on the VMware computer. When it
boots, the virtual bios will boot off the floppy or CD, and start you through
the process. It will ask you if it should fdisk the drive, format it, etc. If
you are using a virtual disk, then go ahead. If you are using a partition that
has data and stuff on it, DO NOT! Like I said, the virtual disk approach is
usually the way to go.

It will install, just as if it were on a regular computer. Then, once it is
installed, you should be able to mount drives or directories from the host
computer, which allows you to copy files back and fourth. So if you have a 2gb
virtual drive, you can still have access to the 40gb that is in your host
computer.

Blessings,
