The modo had no identifiable labeling, except some vague stickers on one 
end and a tiny barcode. It took 30 minutes with Google just to ID the 
board. Every part on the board is clearly labeled, but the only label I 
can find near this odd slot is "COAST".

At any rate, I stumbled across a reference on Gateway's site that 
matched one of the stickers. Their info on the board is limited to usch 
things as jumper settings and drivers. There are only two downloads: 
one to use the board with WinNT 3.5, and one to update the BIOS. There 
is no mention of any special functions.
