Well, really it's not a Mailman problem, but someone trying to
simulate graphics in a text mode atmosphere where it does not belong.
And it's not really unfortunate, when I tire of it I will just direct
html to /dev/null and there *is* no problem.

On second thought, it possibly is a Mailman mis-configuration not
directing html to /dev/null itself.  Tim?
