I'm assuming that I've made no mistake, and that you are using it to
mean roughly "socialist".

In which case, in defence of the other Fred, I appreciate that yours
is the common US-American usage, but I do find it rather dangerous and
counter-productive to use words in opposition to their dictionary
meaning in this way :). It has, after all, been a strategy of some of
the worst regimes in history to characterise their political ideology
as the complete opposite to that which they actually espouse.
